Madison crane accident critically injures construction worker who fell 50 feet with beam

MADISON, Wis. — A construction worker was in critical condition Saturday after they fell approximately 50 feet downtown Madison.

The fire department was dispatched to the corner of State and Fairchild streets at around 9:30 a.m. for a construction crane that dropped a 20,000-30,000-pound beam. The worker, who was taken the hospital, reportedly fell with the beam as it went through sublevels of construction.

Another employee was reportedly stranded with the crane above the site…
