MERRILL, WI (WSAU) — A phase two trial date has been tentatively set for the Madison teen responsible for the death of correctional officer Corey Proulx in the spring of 2024.
Javarius Hurd will go to trial beginning October 21st, if all goes as planned. Both sides will submit briefs and responses over the next two months, with the court to schedule a decision sometime in May.
Hurd has pled guilty by mental disease or defect to one count of second-degree reckless homicide. He also pleaded guilty to one count of battery by prisoners. The phase two trial will focus on his mental state at the time of the incident…
