There were two options on the table at the Board of Health’s meeting Wednesday evening: approve a three-year contract to fund a harm reduction drop-in center on Madison’s far east side…or postpone it indefinitely.
If the board decided to move forward, 1st Vice Chair Gene Musser explained, they would authorize the public health department to begin contract negotiations with local nonprofit CAYA Clinic. Postponing indefinitely would end the board’s involvement with the resolution.
“And ending the board’s involvement in this means: takes no further action,” said Musser. “The board has no role in any operational next steps, including matters of the RFP, CAYA, the drop-in center – they all fall outside the Board of Health’s authority and cannot be addressed with this agenda item.”…
