‘Writing Your Life’ class helps Wisconsin seniors record their memories

Meg Meyer has a picture that she treasures. It’s a Christmas photo from the late 1940s. Meyer is sitting on her mother’s lap, next to her father and older siblings, in front of a Christmas tree. She is the only one in the picture who is still alive.

A few years ago, Meyer realized that the photograph is slowly fading and will one day completely disappear.

“And I realized, as the last member of that family, that the photo is like a metaphor of memories,” she told WPR’s “Wisconsin Today.” “I’m the last one who has the memories of that family. So I’ve designated myself as keeper of the memories.”…
