WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is asking people to help reduce food waste by half by 2030.
In 2024, an estimated 900,000 tons of food waste were disposed of in Wisconsin landfills. According to the Wisconsin DNR, 20% of all waste in Wisconsin landfills is food waste, including wasted food that was previously edible and food scraps like peels, bones and shells.
