Fall in love with eight romance novels with Wisconsin ties

​Romance novels are having a moment in Madison — just look at Lake City Books’ romance book club, which filled up so fast after its recent debut that a second meeting time had to be added. Earlier this month, Madison also welcomed a mobile bookstore dedicated to the genre.

To celebrate the genre’s growing popularity, we asked some of Madison’s booksellers to recommend a romance novel or two written by local authors or set in Wisconsin.

“The Snowbirds” by Christina Clancy

Eden Olivia, co-owner of Ink & Ivy Book Boutique, chooses “The Snowbirds,” written by Madison-based author Christina Clancy, as her favorite love story written by a Wisconsin author.

“The Snowbirds” follows middle-aged married couple Kim and Grant. Now empty nesters, the pair decides to leave the cold midwestern winter for a condo community in Palm Springs, California. When Grant goes missing in the Palm Springs mountains, Kim is left alone and flooded with questions. Clancy’s story is a tender exploration of how relationships evolve in middle age, and what it really means to commit to someone for a lifetime.
