Merrill Bluejays bound for State in Madison this week

Marissa Miles, a member of the Merrill Varsity Girls Wrestling Team, will be making her way to Madison this week as the lone female Bluejay competing at the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association (WIAA) Individual Wrestling Tournament. Miles, who competes at 165 pounds, joins fellow Merrill wrestlers Remington Skic, Hunter Opper, and Noah Klug, who will also represent the Bluejays on the mat at State. The three are all members of the Merrill Varsity Boys Wrestling Team.

The tournament runs Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 26-28, 2026, at the Kohl Center on the campus of the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

This is only the second-ever Girls Wrestling Team Championships in Wisconsin, and the 2026 Individual Wrestling Tournament will produce the Girls’ Team Champion for the second year. A Girl’s Team Champion and runner-up will be recognized based on results of individual performances from the schools represented in the tournament. Girls will compete in 12 weight classes, and there are 192 girls qualifying from 124 wrestling programs statewide.
