Dane County law enforcement boosts traffic safety efforts

MADISON, Wis. — The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is joining efforts with the Madison Police Department to boost traffic enforcement and promote safe driving habits.

Dane County Sheriff’s deputies will focus on enforcing laws against drunk driving, seatbelt use, and excessive speeding. Traffic safety grants from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety, fund these efforts.

“Our goal here is not to write tickets; our goal is to make Dane County roads safer for everyone,” said Sheriff Kalvin Barrett. “The reason we inform the public of these enforcement efforts is so they can be proactive.
