Madison man sentenced in killing of McFarland woman

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – The man convicted in the killing of a McFarland woman in 2024 will serve 15 years behind bars, a Dane County judge ordered on Monday.

Judge Mario White ordered James Barnes-Morris to serve 15 years in prison, followed by 10 years of extended supervision.

The courtroom was packed Monday as loved ones of Brooke Strattan filled the courtroom, wearing her favorite color- purple. Strattan’s parents stood before the court to describe their daughter’s character, hopes and dreams ahead of hearing Barnes-Morris’ fate.
