When the Wisconsin Historical Society put out an open call out to Native American artists and makers for powwow regalia to be featured at a museum in the making, Red Cliff Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Elder Jim Pete (Guyaushk) was quick to respond.
Officials of the society were impressed by his collection and selected many of his items to be featured in a display at the new Wisconsin History Center in Madison expected to open in 2027.
