Emilie Burditt grew up canoeing with her father. Her father introduced her to the outdoors. “I really grew a love for outdoor spaces and respect for nature from these annual canoe trips.”
On one of those canoeing trips, she decided she wanted to be a backpacking hiker — even though she had never done it before. “The most I had done was like, a mile or two,” she said.
