Man identified in deadly hit-and-run on Madison’s east side

MADISON, Wis. — Officials on Wednesday identified the pedestrian who died in a hit-and-run crash on Madison’s east side Saturday night.

Officers were called to the intersection of Mesta Lane and Commercial Avenue at around 7:45 p.m. for a report of a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, 61-year-old Vincent Lipski, was taken to a hospital and later died. He was crossing Commercial Avenue when he was hit.

Police said the driver, 33-year-old Antwon Amos from Sun Prairie, initially stopped but then left the scene. Officers quickly caught up to him and stopped him, taking him to the hospital for a blood draw.
