Nearly century-old Goodman’s Jewelers keeps legacy alive after 65-day flood recovery

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -Goodman’s Jewelers on the Square reopened Friday, more than two months after a burst pipe in an empty apartment above the store sent water pouring through the building.

The nearly century-old Madison landmark was forced to close Jan. 20 when the pipe burst, soaking display cases, flooring and decades of memories.

“It was a long, long 65 days. It started with walking in on January 20th to our torrential rain pour coming down to this point,” said John Hayes, Goodman’s president.
