‘Our hope is definitely to get all of the dogs:’ Animal activists openly planning raid at Wisconsin breeding, research facility

WASHINGTON — Last month, activists in protective suits entered Ridglan Farms, an animal breeding and research facility outside of Madison, and left with beagles they claim were mistreated. Twenty-seven of the activists were arrested. Now, they plan to do it again.

“We decided that we had another choice but to engage in nonviolent, direct action,” said animal rights activist Aditya Aswani.

Beagles are often used for medical research because of their size and naturally docile temperament. Twenty-two dogs taken in last month’s protest were adopted. The activists plan to go back on April 19 to get the rest…
