SAN ANTONIO – Fred Below has been digging into dirt research for more than 41 years – growing knowledge through huge changes in agriculture. He’s a professor of crop physiology in the University of Illinois-Department of Crop Sciences.
“The question I get the most common is, when am I going to retire – mostly from my wife,” he said at the 2026 Commodity Classic. “And it’s going to be pretty soon. I got to tell you, I don’t think I have another 41 years in me – but maybe one more. We’ll see.”
