A routine traffic stop in central Illinois quickly turned into a massive drug bust Monday afternoon.

According to Illinois State Police, a trooper pulled over a vehicle traveling eastbound on Interstate 74 just outside of Bloomington shortly after 1pm. What seemed to be a typical traffic stop escalated after the trooper conducted a search of the vehicle.

Inside, authorities say they discovered multiple packages of methamphetamine, adding up to 99.7 pounds.
Authorities Seize 100 Pounds of Meth During Traffic Stop in Madison
Officials estimate the street value of the drugs at nearly $3.6M, making it one of the more significant meth seizures in the area in recent memory. The driver, identified as 25-year-old Ivan Kuckuk, was taken into custody at the scene.
Police say he is from Madison, Wisconsin, and now faces a methamphetamine trafficking charge. He is currently being held at the McLean County Jail as the investigation continues…
