Eleven golfers with Wisconsin ties tee it up in PGA Tour-sanctioned events

The Sweet Spot isn’t sure if this is a record, but he suspects it is: 11 golfers with Wisconsin ties played in PGA Tour-sanctioned events last week — and it would have been 13 if Steve Stricker and Jerry Kelly hadn’t withdrawn from the 86th Senior PGA Championship with injuries.

As it was, five Badgers played in the Senior PGA at The Concession Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla. Menomonee Falls native Mark Wilson finished T-51, Madison native Mario Tiziani finished T-62 and teaching pro Mick Smith of Summit finished 74th. Brookfield native Tim Cantwell and David Roesch of Germantown — like Smith members of the PGA of America’s Corebridge Financial Team — missed the cut…
