Monona Common Council approves first phase of San Damiano Park redesign

MONONA, Wis. — The Monona Common Council is giving the green light to phase one of a plan that would redesign San Damiano Park.

The plan, which is backed by the Friends of San Damiano Park and was initially approved by the council in 2024, will improve access to the 10-acre plot on Lake Monona’s eastern shore by adding parking and walking paths that better connect the property to Monona Drive.

The Frank Allis House, which serves as the centerpiece of the property, will be remodeled to include restrooms as well as food and beverage service. A patio will be added to the side of the house that faces the lake, with a walking path leading to a new pier…
