MABLETON — The city is a step closer to preserving the “heart of historic Mableton” after purchasing two properties on Front Street, in the hopes of creating a cohesive historic area, according to Mayor Michael Owens.
The city purchased the adjacent properties at 966 and 948 Front Street, containing the Glore House, built in 1912, and Mableton’s first post office, built in 1895. The properties sit off Church Street, near Floyd Road and Veterans Memorial Highway, near Barnes Hardware.
