Former Kennesaw mayor, councilman and convicted child molester Leonard Church was granted parole by the State Board of Pardons and Paroles, according to court documents.
Church pleaded guilty to charges of child molestation and sexual exploitation in December 2015 and was serving an 18-year prison sentence at Long State Prison, southwest of Savannah. According to court documents, he was issued parole by the state board Sept. 1, with his effective parole date issued on Sept. 10.
