Atlanta, GA – Damaging winds are threatening the Atlanta metropolitan area and much of northern Georgia on Saturday, with gusts reaching 50 mph and widespread power outages expected. Residents are being warned that falling trees, damaged power lines and dangerous driving conditions could continue into Sunday morning.
According to the National Weather Service in Peachtree City, a High Wind Warning remains in effect until 8 a.m. EDT Sunday, Oct. 11, covering 44 counties across north-central, northeastern, northwestern and west-central Georgia.
Forecasters expect east winds of 15 to 25 mph, with gusts reaching 50 mph. Stronger gusts are possible in the higher elevations of the north Georgia mountains.…
