Kennesaw Man Accused of Vehicular Homicide

A 71-year-old Kennesaw man is accused of causing a collision that resulted in the death of the victim.

Allan Craig Johnson was driving a silver 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, when he failed to yield to a black 2003 Jeep Liberty, operated by Randall Riggs, while attempting to enter Dallas Highway from a private driveway at 2495 Dallas Highway, near the intersection of Dallas and Barrett Parkway, on Oct. 30 at 10:30 p.m., according to a warrant for his arrest.

Riggs’ Jeep was traveling east in the right lane when it collided with the left rear of Johnson’s Chevrolet, police said.

Riggs’ suffered a fractured femur and multiple contusions to the head, chest, abdomen and arm. It is the opinion of the medical examiner, Dr. Christopher Gulledge, that the injuries sustained in the collision, which was caught on video, along with heart disease, contributed to Riggs’ death, according to the warrant.

Johnson is charged with second degree vehicular homicide and failure to yield, both misdemeanors. Johnson was arrested Tuesday morning and was released Tuesday afternoon on $5,720 bond.
