MARIETTA — No tricks here: after 46 years on Marietta Square, the popular costume, novelty and clown supply store Eddie’s Trick Shop is closing.
The store announced it will soon be shutting its doors in a Facebook post Friday, drawing dozens to reminisce about the memories created while shopping there.
Jocho Byrd, who spoke to the MDJ inside the store Friday while trying on mascot heads, said he’s been a customer for over 40 years.
“I started coming here when I was about four,” Byrd said. “This was the place to come for unique costumes … The best in Cobb County.”
The store plans to stay open until everything is liquidated, and is running a 60% off sale. Mascots will be sold between $100 and $200, and other high end rentals will go for $100.
“Thank you all for your support over the years,” the store’s Facebook announcement reads. “Like everything else this sale won’t last long, so come take advantage of what made our store one of a kind for so many years.”
Frank McKinnon co-owns the store with his sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Keith Beavers.
