2 Georgia residents arrested after allegedly impersonating police officers, scamming people in east Alabama

AUBURN, Ala. ( WRBL ) – A Georgia man and woman were arrested this week on first-degree theft of property warrants after a victim reported paying money to someone pretending to be law enforcement impersonator.

According to Auburn Police, APD Officers arrested 33-year-old Kieth Alexander McClymont from Atlanta, Georgia and 29-year-old Davida Samantha Perry from Cedartown, Georgia.

Their arrested came after the Auburn Police Department received a theft report involving a cellphone scam on Dec. 16, 2023. The victim told police that they received several calls from subject who claimed to be law enforcement officers. During the calls, the victim was instructed to make electronic payments to satisfy fake court penalties to avoid being arrested.

Auburn Police says during the investigation, McClymont and Perry were developed as suspects and police later obtain arrest warrants for both on Jan. 12, 2023. McClymont was located and arrested by the South Fulton Police Department in Georgia on Feb. 1. After waiving extradition, authorities transported McClymont to the Auburn Police Department on Feb. 6, where Auburn Police executed his arrest warrants.
