Police: Two Smyrna Officers Sick After Receiving Paperwork from Suspect

Two Smyrna Police officers are recovering after a Harris County man presented them with potentially poisoned papers, according to the man’s arrest warrant.

Little Gaston Stone, 51, was arrested Tuesday and is facing two felony charges of aggravated assault against officers.

The two pages contained a substance that left them afflicted with “extreme fatigue, chest pain, chest tightness, dizziness, and difficulty breathing,” according to the arrest warrant.

According to the warrant, Stone entered the department headquarters filming his visit on a tablet and speaking about Gov. Brian Kemp. He handed two police officers papers intended for Smyrna Police Chief Keith Zgnoc. Just moments later, the officers reported their symptoms and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

“The Officers took possession of two pieces of paper, and Mr. Stone quickly exited the building before walking North on Atlanta Rd.,” the warrant reads. “Approximately five minutes later, both Officers began to experience respiratory distress and extreme fatigue. They were both transported to the hospital, where they remain with ongoing symptoms.”
