Georgia Makes Historic Announcement Ahead of SEC Clash With Texas

The Georgia Bulldogs are on the verge of the program’s first SEC clash against the Texas Longhorns. Yet, the Bulldogs and one of the team’s rivals made an announcement about 2025, days before the team takes on the Longhorns.

As for Georgia-Texas, the Bulldogs are a 4-point underdog, per DraftKings, as the program looks to live up to their name in Austin. Georgia will be Texas’ biggest test with the Michigan Wolverines being the team’s most challenging opponent to date.

Georgia and Georgia Tech announced a significant change heading into the Peach State’s rivalry matchup next season. The 2024 game will be played in Athens as scheduled, but the contest has been moved to Mercedes-Benz Stadium for 2025.

The 2025 matchup was initially slated to be held at Georgia Tech, but will now shift a few miles to the home of the Atlanta Falcons. This marks the first time in the history of the rivalry game that one of the school’s will not be hosting the contest.

“Georgia Tech athletic director J Batt informed Tech fans Tuesday that the 2025 game against Georgia will be played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium,” The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Chad Bishop wrote on Oct. 15.
