Cobb Police say seven people lived inside the home of a dead Smyrna man — making good use of his credit cards, checkbook and vehicle — while his mummified body was in the nearby bathroom.
The approximately 70-year-old man had been dead for three months, according to Sgt. Eric Smith. It is unclear how long the suspects had been living in the home, or if they were the only ones to do so.
“There are indications that someone was living there, but we don’t know if those arrested were the ones that were living in the home,” Smith said.
The man’s cause of death is still under investigation. Police do not believe the man has any surviving relatives.
