MARIETTA — Marietta-based Latin American restaurant La Carreta is back after a fire kept their doors closed for almost a year and a half.
In addition to serving mainly authentic Mexican dishes, the restaurant features an agave bar and a grocery store where they sell a variety of international foods and products. The grocery store has also reopened.
During its closure, the restaurant went through a dramatic revamp which included refurnishing the dining area with new chairs and adding booth seating.
Although it has a new look, La Carreta’s menu is still the same one fans will remember.
Since opening, Manager Julian Henao said customers have continued ordering items such as the bandeja paisa, a popular Colombian dish containing beans, rice, chorizo, pork belly, plantains, steak, fried egg and avocado.
Other popular dishes include their taco combo, with rice and beans, and enchiladas made in their charcoal-grilled oven.
Henao, who is of Colombian descent, said he hopes to incorporate more Colombian dishes into the restaurant’s menu in the future.
