MARIETTA — Locals and their furry friends gathered at The Drafty Dane Park and Pint to celebrate the grand opening of Marietta’s first off-leash dog bar Friday.
The Drafty Dane, on 942 Roswell Street, near the Big Chicken, is an all-in-one, members-only dog park and family-friendly bar, featuring a downstairs off-leash area and on-leash sports bar on the second floor.
While the dog park and bar officially opened Oct. 26, city officials, Drafty Dane employees and excited dog owners gathered for an official ribbon cutting Friday.
During the event, guests and their dogs enjoyed complimentary treats, including champagne and cupcakes for the owners.
Co-owner Emily Matthews said the festivities will continue Saturday with drink specials, food trucks and live music as well as a Georgia-Tennessee football watch party at night.
Matthews runs the business with her husband Brennen Matthews and business partners Fitz Johnson and Suzann Wilcox.
“We’re thrilled to get this place finally open,” Johnson said. “The project’s taken us a little while to get to where we are today and… to see all these people here, right off the bat, we’re so excited.”
