MARIETTA — The Cobb Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a proposed 32-unit townhome development off Veterans Memorial Highway Tuesday.
Developer Thomas Orok is proposing a for-sale, single-family townhouse development at 1558 Veterans Memorial Highway Southwest, next to Chattahoochee Technical College’s Austell Campus.
The 6.5-acre tract would have 32 two-story townhomes, each a minimum of 1,800 square feet in size.
According to a preliminary design plan submitted in July, the development has a maximum height of 35 feet and will include a mix of three and four bedroom homes. All townhouse units will have a two-car garage.
Earlier this month, the Planning Commission unanimously voted to recommend approval to the board.
Because the case had been on the docket since March, Commissioner Monique Sheffield said the board had a fair amount of time to look over details of the case.
Unlike in previous zoning hearings, no one stood in opposition to the case.
Last month, Robin Meyer, co-chair of the Mableton Improvement Coalition’s zoning committee, stood in opposition of the proposal and shared that the coalition wanted to see more diversity and uniqueness in the proposed architecture.
