Several railroad crossings in Smyrna and Marietta will be temporarily closed next week for required safety maintenance.
A production team from CSX Transportation will be working in the area from Monday, Dec. 2 to Friday, Dec. 6.
During this time, crossings will be closed for 24 to 48 hours while the railroad company completes the work needed, according to the city of Marietta.
In Smyrna, the crossings at Spring Street and Hawthorne Avenue, intersecting with Atlanta Road, will be closed for maintenance on Dec. 2. Maintenance is expected to be completed by Dec. 3, according to city of Smyrna officials.
In and around Marietta Square, the following crossings will be affected on Thursday, Dec. 5: East Dixie Avenue Southeast, Waverly Way, Whitlock Avenue Northwest, Mill Street Northwest, Polk Street Northwest and Kennesaw Avenue Northwest.
