‘Pay it Forward’: Builder Gives Cancer Patient Free Home Renovation

ROSWELL — A mother of five and grandmother of two diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer will spend Christmas in a home that underwent a major renovation done free of charge by home builder Artisan Built Communities.

In July, Holly Aarons was diagnosed with breast cancer for the second time. The discovery came while her home near Shallowford Falls Elementary School saw ongoing maintenance issues from water leaks and mold.

After hearing about her story, Artisan President Stephen Haines and his team stepped in to renovate the home. The project aimed to give Holly and her family dignity as they face her health challenges.

“There’s no way to put into words how much this blesses us to be able to help,” Haines said. “At least it’s one less thing that this family has to worry about.

During a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday, Artisan handed the keys back to the couple. A red carpet was draped over the front lawn as the family made their way to the front door.

Dozens of spectators, from contractors who worked on the project to neighbors, came by to witness the ribbon-cutting and congratulate the family.
