Georgia 400 Southbound in Alpharetta is open again after being shut down for over three hours due to a crash.
Alpharetta Police say that a car heading southbound around 3 p.m. on the busy highway crashed into a Georgia Department of Transportation electronic message board, damaging the sign. Police said the vehicle driver struck the support pole and power box of the sign and was seriously injured in the crash.
The driver was transported to a nearby hospital.

Alpharetta’s Traffic Enforcement Unit is investigated the crash and said GDOT engineers were looking at the damaged pole and sign to make sure they were not in danger of collapsing or falling onto the road.
