Man Accused of Snatching Gold Watch at Cumberland Mall

Jaquinton EshawnDa Ridgeway, 24, of Mobile, Alabama, is accused of snatching a Audermar Piquet gold watch from Status Jeweler on Dec. 24 at 1:28 p.m. at Cumberland Mall, according to an arrest warrant from the Cobb County Police Department.

Shelton Morrison, the manager for Status Jeweler, told police a customer had complained that a watch purchased on an earlier date at the store did not have real diamonds. Morrison said he and the customer walked to Fast Fix, also located in Cumberland Mall, to get a second opinion on the watch. Morrison said while at Fast Fix, he placed a gold Audermar Piquet watch from Status Jewelers on the counter so the Fast Fix manager could look at both watches. Morrison said that while the watch was on the counter, Ridgeway grabbed the watch and ran from Fast Fix. Ridgeway was stopped by Cumberland Mall security and detained. Ridgeway was also in possession of a 9mm Glock 45 during the commission of the crime, according to the warrant.

Ridgeway is charged with robbery snatch; and possession of firearm during the commission of a crime. He was arrested on Dec. 24 at 2:05 p.m. and booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to jail records.
