6 confirmed tornadoes touched down during weekend storm outbreak

Severe Weather Team 2 has confirmed that at least six tornadoes touched down during an outbreak of strong storms early Sunday morning.

As we reported on Monday, three confirmed tornadoes touched down in Coweta, Fayette and Meriwether counties.

Now, Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitz said three more were confirmed in Douglas, DeKalb and Cobb counties.

The most powerful of those storms was an EF-1 storm with winds of 95 mph. The storm in Douglas County was also and EF-1 tornado with wind speeds of 90 mph.

The storm that hit North DeKalb County had winds of 85 mph, making it an EF-0 storm.

Channel 2 Action News was in Cobb County on Monday where that tornado left behind piles of trees and debris all up and down streets.

Chris Caldwell said he was woken up by a tree falling through the middle of his home.
