The Cobb County Water System reported an estimated 710 gallon wastewater sewer overflow occurred on Jan. 2.
The overflow, resulting from rags, occurred at 628 River Bend Circle SW in Smyrna, and discharged into a tributary of Mill Creek.
The Water System was notified of the overflow on Jan. 2 at 2:43 p.m. and the overflow was stopped on Jan. 2 at 3:40 p.m.
Dispatch received a call for 624 River Bend Circle SW. Upon arrival, the crew observed a manhole spilling with a secured lid. The escaping sewage left a 10-foot by 30-foot trail, entering the tributary. After using a jet machine to unstop the sewer line, the crew spread lime on the affected area. During their time on-site, the crew did not observe any fish kills.
