Heavy Snow & Ice Possible Across Parts of Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina

4-8″+ of Snow Likely Across Parts of Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee

Good morning everyone. We’re a day closer to our very dynamic storm system set to impact a wide area of real estate with some winter weather.

All of the pieces are coming together for some moderately rare snows in areas of the South that typically don’t get snow or much snow during our winter season. We’ll watch those pieces of the puzzle begin to organize late morning tomorrow into the evening; starting off with spotty light snow, light freezing rain, sleet, and scattered showers across parts of Texas and Oklahoma.

The best chance to see some of this budding snow will be across parts of northeast Texas and southeast Oklahoma. We’ll have to wait and see exactly where that rain/snow line sets up, but along that boundary we’ll see a band of freezing rain and sleet. As our storm intensifies along the Gulf Coast, we’ll see heavy rain and thunderstorms break out across coastal areas of Texas and Louisiana.

While snow and ice are the main features of this system, we could also see a severe weather component to this in the form of embedded heavier thunderstorms capable of locally damaging winds, hail, and waterpouts near the coasts of Texas, Louisiana, Missippi, and Alabama. Snow and sleet will also intensify as low pressure deepens and throws moisture northward into the very cold air.
