CLOSURES: These local governments are closing ahead of winter storm on Friday

Local city and county governments in metro Atlanta and north Georgia are deciding if they should close their offices as a winter storm moves into the area on Friday.

Severe Weather Team 2 Chief Meteorologist Brad Nitz is forecasting a winter storm to move into the area on Friday morning and bring snow, sleet and freezing rain with it.

Some school districts have also made the decision to have school virtually on Friday , but more are expected to make a decision on Thursday.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has also announced that all state offices north of and including Columbus, Macon and Augusta will be closed on Friday. That means that all state offices in the metro Atlanta will not be open.

State employees will work virtually, the governor said.
