Tornadoes and severe thunderstorms can happen in winter when conditions are just right. When they happen overnight, they often are deadly, particularly in the Deep South.
On the night of Feb. 13, 2000, 25 years ago tonight, a swarm of strong tornadoes were spawned over parts of southwestern Georgia. Nineteen were killed and 202 injured.
