Search for Missing Coach at Georgia Lake Suspended Indefinitely 3 Weeks After He Disappeared

Crews spent three weeks searching the water of Lake Oconee for Gary Jones, who has not been seen since Feb. 8

The search for a missing private school coach has been suspended indefinitely at the Georgia lake where his boat was found empty more than three weeks ago.

Putnam County Sheriff Howard Sills announced on Sunday, March 2, that after 22 days of searching, the search for Gary Jones on Lake Oconee was suspended until further notice, according to NBC affiliate WXIA-TV and FOX affiliate WAGA-TV .

The search began for Jones and a second person, Joycelyn Nicole Wilson, after the 12-foot boat was found unmanned while circling near the Wallace Dam on Saturday, Feb. 8. Witnesses reportedly claimed to have seen a man and a woman on the boat beforehand…
