Georgia House passes new round of surplus tax refund payments on Crossover Day

ATLANTA — The Georgia House on Thursday passed the newest round of proposed state surplus tax refund payments.

The $1 billion in refund payments to Georgia taxpayers — always structured the same way: $250 to a single tax filer, $375 to the head of a household, $500 to married couples filing jointly — were passed on Crossover Day, the last day possible to send the legislation to the state Senate.

The bill to authorize the latest round of payments, HB 112, passed in a 175-0 vote. The bill is all but certain to pass in the Georgia Senate. Kemp had announced back in October his intention to propose this round of the payments…
