On the afternoon of Friday last week, a high-speed police chase took place along Interstate 20 in Atlanta, ending with the detention of five suspects by the Atlanta Police Department. According to FOX 5 Atlanta, officials initially responded to reports of a vehicle break-in on Lakeview Drive in northeast Atlanta before confronting the suspects on I-20.
The suspects, considered armed and dangerous, led police on a chase that reached speeds over 100 mph. During the pursuit, captured on police dashcams, officers used two PIT maneuvers to stop the suspect vehicle. After the second maneuver, those inside the vehicle were seen throwing guns onto the roadside. “They’re throwing guns out! They’re throwing guns out! Box ‘em! Box’em! Watch out Jaz!,” an officer reported, as recounted by WSB-TV. Officers quickly recovered the firearms, one of which was reported stolen.
Elijah Boyd, 28, the driver of the vehicle, was charged with fleeing and eluding police, while passenger Raquarez Thompkins faces charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Boyd, Thompkins, and a third suspect, Marquavious Walker, were found to have active warrants in DeKalb County. Two other passengers, Jacolbi Wideman and Rodrekas Seaborn, were also detained, though it is unclear if they will face charges…
