State of Emergency Declared Ahead of Saturday Storms

Gov. Brian Kemp declared a state of emergency ahead of tonight’s impending thunderstorms, which are expected to bring high winds, hail and a chance of tornadoes.

“This storm will hit at the worst possible time, as people are heading to or already in bed,” Kemp said. “Be prepared ahead of time and remain weather aware as long as this system is in the state.”

According to the National Weather Service, the storm is expected to hit Cobb between 10 p.m. Saturday and 3 a.m. Sunday, with a two-hour variance. All severe weather hazards will possibly occur during this time, meteorologists said, including damaging winds between 60 and 80 mph, hail up to an inch in diameter, flash flooding and EF-2-level tornados (tornados with winds between 111 and 135 mph)…
