Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp on Friday signed the religious freedom bill that advocates said was needed to protect people of faith but critics said could be used to discriminate.
Kemp had said earlier that he would sign the version of the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, or RFRA, that passed the House on Wednesday.
“I wanted to let everybody know that, despite signing that legislation, Georgia still remains a state that as a state there’s no place for hate,” Kemp said Friday. “And I can assure all Georgians of that today.”…
