Smyrna Man Accused of Arson

Jordan Taylor Seymore, 29, of Smyrna, is accused of setting fire to a trash receptacle on April 2 at 12:44 a.m. at a townhome at 285 Timber Creek Lane SW in Marietta, according to an arrest warrant from Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services.

A fire investigator was told by the fire scene commander that a resident might have surveillance footage of the incident. Speaking with them the next morning, the investigator was shown a Ring doorbell camera video and determined that the fire was incendiary. The resident didn’t know the name of the man in the video, but showed the investigator the unit where the man lived with his aunt, according to the warrant.

The aunt told the investigator that her nephew, Seymore, had started a small fire in her backyard the day before and had not been on his medication lately. She also said he had left the residence 10 minutes prior to the investigator’s arrival. Driving around the area, the investigator found Seymore standing in the front yard looking at the charred remnants of the garbage can, according to the warrant…
