2 Fulton County health officials on leave after abruptly firing employees

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Atlanta’s sexual health advocates and nonprofits expressed concern after the Fulton County Board of Health (FCBOH) abruptly laid off 17 employees associated with the county’s sexual health and HIV prevention programs.

The move, which caught even the overarching Georgia Department of Public Health (GDPH) off guard, came Monday and landed two of the county department’s executive leaders on unpaid administrative leave.

The GDPH said the firings “were done without the prior knowledge or approval of the Georgia Department of Public Health” and “included a reduction in force of 17 staff members.”…
