Cyberattack may have exposed personal data of employees and residents, Cobb county says

COBB COUNTY, Ga. — Cobb County officials now say sensitive personal information may have been compromised during a March cyberattack, marking a shift from their earlier position downplaying the breach’s impact.

In a notice posted Friday, county leaders revealed that an unauthorized actor accessed and copied files from a limited number of government systems between March 6 and March 21. Some of those files included names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license or state ID numbers, and financial account information belonging to employees and people who have received county services.
