ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – One of the new laws taking effect July 1 in Georgia requires all of the state’s public K-12 schools to install mobile panic alert systems that connect directly to local and state emergency services.
Known as “Ricky and Alyssa’s Law,” Senate Bill 17 also mandates real-time digital mapping to help first responders locate and respond faster during an emergency.
The bill is named for Richard Aspinwall, one of four victims killed in last year’s Apalachee High School shooting in Winder, Georgia, and Alyssa Alhadeff, one of 17 students and staff killed in the 2018 Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting in Parkland, Florida…
