Police identify multiple arrestees from Buford Highway protest

Brookhaven police and the organizers of a protest along Buford Highway have shared more details about what took place after at least six people were arrested.

On June 10, more than 2,000 people lined up along Buford Highway, which runs through Brookhaven, Chamblee and Doraville in DeKalb, to “stand in solidary with the people of Los Angeles, defend the basic right to freedom of assembly, and to protest deportations and ICE raids,” according to officials with the Atlanta branch of the Party for Socialism and Liberation, who organized the demonstration.

According to a statement released by officials with the Brookhaven Police Department, the demonstration “began peacefully and Brookhaven officers maintained open and constructive communication with protest organizers throughout the event.”…
