Smyrna woman charged with animal cruelty

A warrant is out for the arrest of a Smyrna woman after police say she caused the deaths of three dogs, with several others missing.

The suspect, Jamie Penland, is accused of letting three dogs out of her car at two busy Cobb intersections, which resulted in the dogs being struck and killed by passing vehicles.

According to Penland’s arrest warrant, this happened on two different occasions: the first incident occurred on Dec. 5, 2024, at approximately 9:35 p.m., and the second a few weeks later, on Christmas Eve, at approximately 5:17 p.m…
